MDGs-Poverty
About Us
FORDAR is a community-based organization that aims to help rural communities profitably and sustainably use resources to fight poverty at a household level. Our mission is to initiate development programs in rural communities by directly involving those who seek help with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of such projects. We would like to build partnerships with other related organizations to share skills, knowledge, and resources to support Uganda’s development and transformation process.
Our Community
We work primarily in the Iganga District of Uganda, focusing on rural communities. The majority of people we work with rely on subsistence farming for their main source of livelihood, with a few cases of small businesses.
History
Founded in 2005 by Michael Kaidhiwa, we began by connecting university students to rural communities to undertake research projects. For many rural communities, we were able to facilitate their first interaction with research groups. Since then, we have expanded to a broader mission of conducting research that is aimed at contributing to influencing solutions to rural problems of extreme poverty.
