About Us
The Divine Mission International (TDMI), founded and run in Kasangati, Uganda, works with a broad scope perspective to respond to numerous issues found in our community. Founded in 2006, our staff of eight runs a diverse set of programs in both Lugandan and English for people of all backgrounds. The humanitarian programs, which are motivated by the Christian faith, include rebuilding homes and resettling people dispersed by war, providing sustainability and vocational education, and running a health center for internally displaced persons, students from rural schools, and residents of slums. Our mentorship work, microfinance initiative, and computer, literacy, drug eradication, and teacher training programs exemplify our belief in the Millennium Development Goals.
Our Community
Although TDMI works in a number of communities throughout Uganda, our headquarters are in Kasangati, just north of Kampala, Uganda. Our health care center for primarily women and children is located there, while Kasangati itself is a business center with over 80,000 people. The schools we work with are all over northern and eastern Uganda, depending on need. Particularly, we respond to LRA rebel insurgencies, which have caused devastation to many communities and created IDPs needing support. We are also expanding now into Rwanda with our support services.
History
We began in response to the growing number of war victims and drug addicts and the developing economic gap found in churches in Uganda. Since 2006, we have partnered ourselves with other non-profit organizations to expand our scope and direction. Through these connections, we have met a variety of core needs of people in our community of Kasangati and numerous other communities like our own. Our vision is to continue to expand this work and meaningfully meet people through education, housing and feeding services, camp programs, health care facilities, and extracurricular activities.
