Environment Niche

Focuses on sustainable development and all types of environment related work including reforestation and practical education

The 7th Millennium Development Goal is Environmental Sustainability.

All humans share the Earth’s natural resources. Without clean water and air, healthy rivers, oceans and forests, life on this planet will not be possible. Currently humans are using more natural resources than the planet can produce. We need to become more environmentally sustainable. This means only using what we can put back into nature, so that there will be enough natural resources left for future generations.

The Environment in Africa

Africa is chronically vulnerable to the risk of loss of water supplies and food production, which are an effect of climate change and deforestation. Lack of governance, and stresses of overpopulation, extreme poverty, and hunger, remove interests of sustainability.

Furthermore, exploitation of natural resources, such as minerals and oil, have negative environmental consequences on states that are not being properly addressed. Grassroots Partners focused on the environment often work towards sustainable projects within their communities, involving locals through education and physical labor.

Volunteering with Environmental Programs & Services

Environmental programs range significantly among grassroots partners. Programs involving community education, youth projects, re-forestation, river clean-up, and sustainable agriculture. Volunteers can be involved in the manual labour, planning, coordination, and research needed in environmental projects.
